Warfield Parish Council – Growing with GovFinance

Challenges 

Warfield Parish Council wanted to modernise its financial processes as it took on more services for the community. Their existing sector accounting system was no longer keeping pace with these changes. The council needed a more robust, modern platform that could automate tasks, streamline processes, and provide clearer financial visibility for officers and members.   

Approach 

At the start of 2025, the council implemented GovFinance, part of CloudyIT’s GovSuite. Built on Microsoft’s tried-and-tested Business Central platform, used by thousands of organisations internationally, GovFinance combines the resilience of enterprise-level finance software with tailoring for local councils. The system integrates directly with bank accounts, enabling payments to be made seamlessly within the platform. Invoices are captured digitally through a dedicated email address and assigned to the correct supplier quickly, while automatic bank reconciliation eliminates time-consuming manual checks. GovFinance also integrates smoothly with Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint - supporting collaboration and efficiency across the council. To enhance transparency, GovFinance provides an advanced finance dashboard, offering officers and members a real-time, visual overview of the council’s finances. 

Outcomes 

By moving to GovFinance, Warfield Parish Council has significantly reduced administrative overheads, improved accuracy, and enhanced financial reporting. Automation has freed up time for officers to focus on strategic priorities, while members will also benefit from greater clarity and engagement through interactive dashboards. The council is also looking forward to working with CloudyIT’s wider sector team, whose direct experience with parish and town councils ensures the platform continues to evolve in line with their needs.
