Challenges 

Dunstable Town Council needed a significant IT upgrade to improve security, enhance communication, and provide modern devices for staff and councillors. They sought to strengthen cyber security, replace outdated hardware with new laptops and iPads, install improved internet connections at multiple sites, and implement a Teams-based telephony system. Additionally, they wanted to explore AI-driven tools to increase efficiency in council operations. 

Approach 

CloudyIT worked closely with the council to implement a secure, future-ready digital infrastructure. A comprehensive cyber security framework was introduced, culminating in Cyber Essentials certification. Staff and councillors were equipped with new laptops and iPads, ensuring seamless and secure access to council systems. To improve connectivity, new internet lines were installed across key locations, and a Teams-based telephony system was deployed to unify communication. As part of the modernisation, the council also adopted the full licensed version of Microsoft Copilot, leveraging AI to automate tasks and streamline workflows. 

Outcomes 

Dunstable Town Council now operates with significantly enhanced cyber security, modernised hardware, and a more reliable communications network. Their Cyber Essentials certification provides assurance of strong data protection measures, while the Teams telephony system has simplified internal and external communication. With Microsoft Copilot, staff can work more efficiently, reducing administrative burden and improving productivity.
